Pence Exempts Trump from Being Held Responsible Like the Expelled Democrat

Former Vice President Mike Pence has changed his stance on the standards for former President Donald Trump, comparing it to his vote to expel a Democrat from Congress years ago. During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” guest host Jonathan Karl questioned Pence about his decision to expel former Representative James Traficant after his conviction on felony charges. Karl then asked if Pence would apply the same standard to the White House regarding Trump’s potential convictions on multiple criminal charges.

Pence responded by acknowledging Congress’ responsibility to address ethical violations and referring to the Traficant case as “outrageous.” He suggested that judgment on Trump’s eligibility for the White House after a conviction should be left to the American people. Pence emphasized the importance of Trump having his day in court and maintaining a presumption of innocence, even in light of recent indictments.

It’s worth noting that Pence has previously supported the idea of Trump receiving a fair trial in response to his indictments. Additionally, Pence has qualified for both the first and second GOP debates, although Trump has announced his decision not to participate in any debates.
