Two passengers and two crew members on an Allegiant Air flight were hospitalized in Florida on Wednesday due to “severe turbulence” during landing. A passenger, describing what she witnessed happen to one flight attendant, compared it to a scene from The Matrix as the flight attendant was thrown up in the air, landed straight down, and broke her ankle. Another flight attendant also suffered a similar injury with a protruding bone visible. The aircraft landed normally and taxied to the gate without any issues. However, emergency medical services were present at the gate upon the aircraft’s arrival. In addition to the four individuals who were hospitalized, six others were assessed on-site and released. The condition of the injured passengers and crew members has not been disclosed. Witnesses reported seeing an injured passenger with a cut above her eye and another passenger in their row hitting the ceiling. Allegiant Airlines has stated that they will cooperate with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board in conducting an investigation.
