The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce recently held an opening ceremony for an exhibition at the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars that pays tribute to LGBTQ+ “trailblazers” who have made a significant impact on the city’s history.
Since its establishment in 1992, the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars has recognized more than 460 accomplished individuals spanning various fields such as entertainment, humanitarian work, civic leadership, architecture, art, literature, sports, and military service, according to chamber officials. These honorees have achieved extraordinary success, although their recognition may have varied during their lifetimes.
The exhibition, titled “Out on the Walk,” is a collaboration between the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce and the LGBTQ+ History and Archives of the Desert. The opening ceremony took place at the Village Green Heritage Center on 217 S. Palm Canyon Drive around 3 p.m.
The exhibition will be open at different times on Thursdays through Sundays until November 12.
“We are delighted to have partnered with the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars and the city of Palm Springs to identify and honor these deserving individuals with this new designation,” said David Gray and Julie Warren, co-founders of the LGBTQ+ History and Archives of the Desert.
