Organizer of Miss Grand Philippines affirms Herlene Budol’s title as ‘generic’ with no ‘commitment towards any international pageant’

ALV Pageant Circle, the talent manager and organizer of Miss Grand Philippines, addressed the confusion surrounding the national title awarded to comedian Herlene Nicole Budol. In a statement released on social media, the organization clarified that the title of Miss Philippines Tourism does not come with any contractual obligation to participate in any international pageant. This clarification comes after it was mistakenly believed that Budol would represent the country in the 2023 Miss Tourism World pageant.

The legitimate franchise holder for Miss Tourism World in the Philippines is the Hiyas ng Pilipinas pageant, according to Mike Sordilla, the organization’s chairman. License certificates for Miss Tourism World, Miss Omninational, and Miss Summit International were posted on the national contest’s Facebook page. ALV Pageant Circle emphasized that they did not intend to create any conflict with other pageant organizers and have deep respect for them.

During the Miss Grand Philippines pageant, including the coronation show, there was no mention of the Miss Philippines Tourism winner competing in any international contest. The confusion may have arisen because Budol received her title from 2022 Miss World Philippines-Tourism, Justine Felizarta, who was the first runner-up in the recent Miss Tourism World pageant.

ALV Pageant Circle clarified that they are no longer using the Miss Tourism World Philippines title. They stated that they have not officially confirmed Budol’s participation in the Miss Tourism World pageant and that their choice of global pageants may vary each year depending on their agreements and vision.

In 2019 and 2021, Glyssa Perez and Trisha Martinez received the Miss Philippines Tourism title in the Miss World Philippines pageant but did not compete internationally. However, ALV Pageant Circle announced that Budol may have the opportunity to represent the country in a different international tourism pageant in 2023, with details to be announced soon.

Previously, Budol participated in the 2022 Binibining Pilipinas pageant and finished as the first runner-up. Her manager sent her to Uganda for the Miss Planet International pageant, but due to problems with the competition, Budol and other participants decided to withdraw.

In conclusion, ALV Pageant Circle clarified the status of the Miss Philippines Tourism title and addressed the confusion surrounding Budol’s participation in international pageants. They expressed their respect for other pageant organizers and announced that Budol may have the chance to compete internationally in a different pageant.
