A La Habra resident tragically ended the life of his girlfriend and callously disposed of her body in an Anaheim trash bin after she made the brave decision not to have an abortion. The incident took place on October 30, 2018, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Tiyanie Ly, whose body was discovered in a duffle bag left in a trash container behind an apartment complex on Balboa Plaza.
The prosecution informed the jury that Alhasan, who had been in a relationship with Ly for several months, was the last person seen with her before her demise. Following the discovery of Ly’s body by a homeless individual scavenging for recyclables, Alhasan missed his scheduled flight, forcing him to reschedule for the following day. Concerned family members, realizing that Ly had not returned home after dropping off her children at school, saw news coverage of the body’s discovery, leading them to contact the police and provide identification. As Alhasan checked in for his flight to Germany – his planned getaway towards ultimately reaching Jordan, where he has ties – investigators apprehended him. According to the prosecutor, the luggage Alhasan carried exhibited hastily packed clothes, some of which were still damp, and a sash that they suspect may have been used to strangle Ly.
