Orange County Register: “Following the Path of Hurricane Hilary: Rain Tracks Make Landfall in Orange County”

Hurricane Hilary is currently making its way north from the Pacific coast of Mexico towards Southern California on Friday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, the region should expect potentially heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

The rain is forecasted to begin on Saturday evening, intensifying on Sunday morning, and becoming even stronger by Sunday evening and throughout Monday. The effects of the storm on Southern California are expected to diminish by Tuesday morning.

The updating radar map above displays areas of precipitation in green, with higher intensities indicated by yellow and orange.

The intensity of Hurricane Hilary, now categorized as a Category 4 hurricane, has led officials to issue the first-ever tropical storm watch for the state of California.

According to the National Weather Service, Southern California has not experienced a tropical storm landfall since September 25, 1939.
