Optimistic News as Detroit Lions C Frank Ragnow Avoids Serious Knee Injury

NEW ORLEANS – In a nail-biting 33-28 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Lions Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow suffered a knee injury, the severity of which remains uncertain until tomorrow at the earliest.

Ragnow’s injury occurred in the second quarter during a play that saw him get piled up on while defending a three-yard run by David Montgomery. After being down for some time, Ragnow required the assistance of trainers to leave the field. He was then taken to the locker room via cart and did not return to the game.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell shared, “We won’t know until tomorrow… At first, it sounded like one thing, but after the fact, it sounded like something different. One was not as good, and one sounds more positive.” Campbell indicated that the second piece of news was more optimistic.

The potential loss of Ragnow for any duration would significantly impact the Lions’ offensive line. He has been delivering another Pro Bowl-worthy season as the linchpin of the unit, excelling in the run game and conceding zero sacks and only two quarterback hits all year.

Following Ragnow’s departure, the Lions repositioned right guard Graham Glasgow to center. Rookie Colby Sorsdal stepped in at right guard, yielding varied results.
