The past few weeks have been an absolute delight for OPM listeners across the archipelago. It’s almost as if it was destined to happen, with OPM mainstays Zack Tabudlo and Jason Dhakal, along with rising star DENȲ, all dropping their latest releases. And let me tell you, we can’t seem to get enough of them. These songs have infected our minds, leading to endless bouts of repetitiveness and playlists overflowing with tracks. In this edition of the Listening Party, we’ll be exploring the finest and freshest offerings from Jason Dhakal, DENȲ, and Zack Tabudlo. Brace yourself, though, because these songs will surely awaken those feelings of longing and nostalgic thoughts of missed opportunities and one true great loves.
Jason Dhakal – BEING
Jason Dhakal, the golden voice behind hits like “Body & Soul” and “manila,” has been a breath of fresh air in the OPM scene with his unapologetically sensual lyrics. Personally, my favorite track from the album is the second one, titled “can’t get enough,” with its captivating lyrics and infectious rhythm.
JASON DHAKE – BEING
DENȲ – LOVES7AGE
Prepare to be blown away by DENȲ, a rising star in the Filipino R&B scene. Her powerful vocals and authentic songwriting have left audiences in awe. She is also a part of WAYBETTR, a local record label and artist collective that showcases Filipino hip-hop talent. DENȲ takes pride in her contribution to Filipino R&B, not only in terms of sound but also in the lyrics she writes. Each song she performs is penned by her, and authenticity is key. She wants her music to resonate with everyone or at least one person, and it empowers her to express herself through her lyrics. If you haven’t had the pleasure of discovering DENȲ yet, start with “Gusto With Ya.” This track has amassed over 11 million plays on Spotify alone, and once you listen to it, you’ll find yourself diving deep into the DENȲ rabbit hole. ZACK TABUDLO – DELULU
When it comes to creating hits, Zack Tabudlo seems to have the Midas touch. His mesmerizing vocals, poignant lyrics, and irresistible songs have gained international recognition. In fact, he’s now the youngest solo male Filipino artist to hit 1 billion overall streams on Spotify. Staying true to form, Tabudlo recently released his latest single, “DELULU.” This unique word has become part of our vocabulary, representing the delusions that arise from having unrealistic expectations when it comes to someone you’re interested in. Tabudlo captures the essence of this experience, painting a vivid picture of a confused heart enchanted by someone they’re unsure of. And let’s not forget his signature falsetto, which we can’t seem to get enough of. So if you find yourself tossing and turning at night, unable to sleep, smiling alone in your room, then you know you’re deep in the “DELULU.”
