OpenAI revolutionized the world of AI chatbots with the introduction of ChatGPT a year ago. Now, OpenAI is taking it a step further by launching a platform that allows users to create custom versions of ChatGPT tailored to their specific needs, and the best part is—you don’t need to code!
OpenAI is set to launch these customized AI agents, known as GPTs, on the GPT Store in the coming weeks. While details about the store’s interface and functionality are sparse, OpenAI plans to compensate creators based on the usage of their GPTs. Paying subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and enterprise customers will have access to these GPTs, enabling the creation of internal bots for their organizations.
The announcement of Custom GPTs took place at DevDay, OpenAI’s inaugural developer conference in San Francisco. At DevDay, OpenAI also unveiled GPT-4, a more powerful and affordable iteration of their language model. The company shared that ChatGPT now boasts an astonishing user base of 100 million weekly users.
OpenAI stated, “Since launching ChatGPT, people have been asking for ways to customize ChatGPT to fit specific ways that they use it. We launched Custom Instructions in July that let you set some preferences, but requests for more control kept coming. Many power users maintain a list of carefully crafted prompts and instruction sets, manually copying them into ChatGPT. GPTs now do all of that for you.”
