The CEO of OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, expressed optimism about global coordination on artificial intelligence (AI) following a tour of capital cities.

During the tour, the CEO engaged with stakeholders to capitalize on the interest in generative AI and exert influence on the regulation of this advancing technology.

In Tokyo, Sam Altman stated, “I came to the trip… skeptical that it was going to be possible in the short term to get global cooperation to reduce existential risk but I am now wrapping up the trip feeling quite optimistic we can get it done.”

Regulators worldwide are working to adapt existing rules and establish new guidelines to govern the use of generative AI, which has the ability to create text and images. This technology is generating excitement and fear as it has the potential to reshape various industries.
