Online ‘Pilot Who Ripped Israel’ Removed from Flying – Unveiling a Controversial Incident

An Air Canada pilot has been temporarily suspended from duty after receiving numerous complaints about his social media posts regarding Hamas’ recent attack on Israel. The airline confirmed to the Toronto Sun on Tuesday that Capt. Mostafa Ezzo, based in Montreal, “was taken out of service as of yesterday.” This means that Ezzo will not be flying any planes while an investigation is being conducted into the complaints made against him. One of the complaints alleges that Ezzo wore pro-Palestinian colors while in his pilot’s uniform and also promoted a pro-Palestine rally in Quebec’s largest city, with the caption “F— you Israel, burn in hell.”

Another post referred to Israel as a “[terrorist] state” and stated, “Hitler is proud of you.” According to CTV News, a third post allegedly showed Ezzo holding a sign depicting an Israeli flag being thrown into the trash, accompanied by the caption “Keep the world clean.” All of Ezzo’s social media accounts have since disappeared. Air Canada promptly condemned the posts as “unacceptable” and expressed their firm stance against violence in any form.

Air Canada clarified to CTV in a statement that Ezzo’s “removal from service” implies that he has been temporarily suspended from flying, although it seems that he has not been terminated. The union representing Air Canada’s pilots also released a statement expressing their deep sorrow regarding the Middle East conflicts and condemning all acts of violence and hatred. The union emphasized their expectation that all members uphold this principle and abide by their professional code of ethics. (Read more Air Canada stories.)
