The Northwest Territories’ election, originally scheduled for October, has been postponed for six weeks due to ongoing wildfires, announced Elections NWT.
The decision to delay the election until November 14 was made during a special legislative session involving territorial leaders.
The election was initially set for October 3.

Due to large-scale evacuations in multiple communities and concerns for public safety, the N.W.T.’s chief electoral officer recommended the election be postponed to November.
