“Notorious Sunset Strip Killer” Passes Away in Prison: Unveiling the Dark Legacy

A serial killer nicknamed the “Sunset Strip Killer” has passed away in San Quentin State Prison. Douglas Daniel Clark, 75, was serving time on death row for the murders of six young women in 1980. Officials announced his death on Thursday, stating that it was due to natural causes.

Clark, a former factory worker from Burbank, was sentenced in Los Angeles County in 1983. He received six consecutive death sentences for first-degree murder, as well as additional sentences for mutilation/sexual contact with human remains and attempted first-degree murder. The state confirmed the details of his conviction.

Clark and his girlfriend, Carol Bundy, who was also a former vocational nurse, were infamously known as the “Sunset Strip Killers.” Bundy passed away in 2003 at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla.

Clark’s murders were particularly horrific, with victims ranging in age from 15 to 24. One of the murders involved decapitation, with the victim’s head being kept in Clark’s refrigerator. Testimony from his trial revealed his disturbing fascination with necrophilia, as he engaged in sexual acts with some of his victims’ corpses before disposing of them in the San Fernando Valley.

Bundy occasionally joined Clark on his killings. She admitted to the police that she had become enamored by his dominance and charm, falling in love with him.

In 1983, Bundy pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
