- Popular apparel brand The North Face posted a crazy marketing stunt on TikTok recently.
- In a video, they delivered a rain jacket to a woman at the top of a mountain in New Zealand via helicopter.
- The woman had complained in a viral TikTok that her waterproof jacket got soaked in the rain.
The North Face pulled off an elaborate marketing stunt on TikTok and delivered rain gear via helicopter to a woman in New Zealand, responding to a viral complaint made by the woman on the platform.
Jenn Jensen shared a TikTok video in which she expressed disappointment with The North Face’s rain jacket that failed to keep her dry in the rain despite being advertised as waterproof.
She demanded a redesign of the jacket and its express delivery to the top of Hooker Valley Lake in New Zealand, tagging The North Face’s TikTok page in her caption.
In response to a user’s comment, The North Face created a TikTok video showing them delivering the jacket via helicopter to the mountain top where Jensen was waiting.
The TikTok video shows an employee grabbing the jacket from a store, boarding a helicopter, and ultimately delivering it to Jensen, garnering 4.1 million views.
Jensen later posted a follow-up video explaining how The North Face flew her out to provide her with new rain gear.
Some users speculated whether her original video was part of a marketing stunt, but Jensen clarified that she was not compensated and was simply a disappointed customer.
The North Face’s marketing strategy aims to connect with customers and entertain on social media, similar to the approach of the Stanley Cup brand that went viral for gifting a woman a new car after her own car fire.
