Nick Bosa Shares Inside Scoop on Chase Young Phone Call After 49ers-Commanders Trade – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

After dominating the field together at Ohio State, Nick Bosa and Chase Young have reunited as teammates in the NFL with the 49ers. This comes after the San Francisco team acquired Young from the Washington Commanders for a special compensatory draft pick at the NFL trade deadline last week. Shortly after learning about the move, Bosa wasted no time and immediately FaceTimed his old pal.

Young considers Bosa as a big brother from their Ohio State days and looks forward to playing alongside the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. During their time at Ohio State, Bosa registered 16.0 sacks in 2017, while Young had 3.5 sacks as a sophomore. The following season, Young recorded 10.5 sacks, while Bosa’s season was cut short after just three games due to a groin injury.

Bosa was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 draft, and Young was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft, selected by Washington. Although they went their separate ways, they remained in close contact as much as possible.

“We kept in touch, but obviously we’re both doing our own thing,” Bosa said. “But we were really close at Ohio State and it’s good to have him back.”

When asked about his favorite memory with Young at Ohio State, Bosa reminisced about the year they dominated together before his season came to an early end. Now with their reunion in the NFL, they aim to replicate their success with the 49ers this season.
