Người sưu tầm Việt Nam được tiết lộ là người mua chai rượu Whisky lớn nhất thế giới

The buyer of the world’s largest bottle of whisky, standing at an impressive height of 5ft 11in, has finally been revealed as Viet Nguyen Dinh Tuan, a Vietnamese businessman with a staggering spirits collection worth over £150m. Last year, Viet acquired the 311-litre bottle filled with 32-year-old Macallan single malt for £1.1m at an auction in Edinburgh. This week, he added the bottle, named the “Intrepid,” to his collection in Ho Chi Minh City, accompanied by a certificate from Guinness World Records authenticating it as the largest bottle in the world. The purchase price amounted to approximately £92 per dram (25ml).

Viet has been a devoted investor in rare spirits for many years, amassing an enviable collection of the rarest and oldest cognac and whisky bottles. He explained his passion for collecting, stating, “The history and traditions of whisky-making give each bottle its rarity, and that’s the value I see in each one.” Moving on to his latest acquisition, he expressed three main reasons for being enticed by the Intrepid: its status as the world’s biggest bottle, the inclusion of Macallan whisky, and his inspiration from the record-breaking achievements of the 11 explorers depicted on the bottle’s label.

The concept and organization of the auction were credited to Daniel Monk of Cask World and the drinks wholesaler Rosewin Holdings. Monk chose to name the bottle the Intrepid in tribute to 11 pioneering British explorers, whose images are featured on the label. These explorers include notable figures such as Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, Dr. Geoff Wilson, Karen Darke, Olly Hicks, and Jamie Ramsay. Monk revealed that the project was a personal undertaking to honor his late father, Capt Stanley Monk, who was himself an explorer and accomplished many extraordinary feats during his lifetime.

Viet’s whisky collection expands further with the Intrepid, joining his impressive roster of bottles, including the world’s only complete Macallan fine and rare collections, which encompasses the rare Macallan 1926 “Fine and Rare.” Only 40 bottles of this exquisite whisky were ever released, and Viet possesses three of them. In 2019, one of these bottles was sold for nearly £1.5m.

Monk had the opportunity to explore Viet’s esteemed whisky collection firsthand and described it as a paradise for enthusiasts. He expressed his delight at witnessing the Intrepid being added to Viet’s whisky war chest, praising him as a knowledgeable and passionate collector who is preserving whisky history. Monk and his team were honored to be guests in Viet’s presence and have the chance to witness his remarkable collection.
