Next Year’s Apple Watch X Rumored to Include Blood Pressure Tracking

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple is planning a significant upgrade to commemorate the tenth anniversary of its watch with a new device called the Apple Watch X. The Watch X is said to have a thinner case and designers are exploring the possibility of a magnetic band that is sleeker and takes up less space than the original Apple Watch bands. It will also feature a microLED display, providing better color and clarity, as well as a blood pressure monitoring feature.

Furthermore, Apple is reportedly set to release its Apple Watch Series 9 lineup at an event in September, alongside the launch of new iPhones. The Series 9 watches will come in new colors and will be powered by faster processors. However, these updates are relatively minor compared to what Apple has in store for the “Watch X,” which is expected to be unveiled in 2024 or 2025.

This development shows that Apple recognizes that many consumers are still purchasing their first Apple Watch and do not upgrade it annually like they do with iPhones. Bloomberg previously reported that Apple is also planning a new version of its high-end Apple Watch Ultra, although specific details are still unclear.

Apple does not disclose individual sales figures for its watches, but they are included in the “Other Products” category along with devices like AirPods, HomePods, and Apple TV. In the fiscal third quarter, this segment generated $8.28 billion in revenue, marking a 2% year-over-year increase.

As of premarket trading on Monday, Apple’s shares have risen approximately 37% year to date, while the Nasdaq has seen a 30% increase for the same period.

CNBC reached out to Apple for comment, but no immediate response has been received.
