Next Week’s Opening of Local Assistance Center for Storm Hilary Victims

Next week, the Cathedral City Library will be hosting a local assistance center to provide support to businesses and residents affected by Tropical Storm Hilary. Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez expressed that this storm impacted the entire Coachella Valley, including all cities and communities within it. As a result, the Local Assistance Center will be open to all residents and businesses in the Coachella Valley.

The center, located at 33520 Date Palm Drive, will operate from Wednesday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. It aims to cater to all impacted Coachella Valley residents and businesses by offering resources and services from various agencies.

Perez’s office shared that services such as housing, behavioral health, social support, and CalFresh will be available at the center. In addition, assistance for reporting damages will also be provided. Among the agencies present are Riverside University Health System’s public and behavioral health departments, Riverside County Department of Public Social Services, California Department of Housing and Community Development, Salvation Army, and FIND Food Bank.

Perez emphasized that the center will serve as a valuable resource for connecting people with agencies actively working towards the recovery of the Coachella Valley. He also mentioned that the center was established through the collaborative efforts of the Riverside County Emergency Management Department, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, county departments, local, state, and federal agencies, as well as other organizations.
