Newly Developed Private Island Unveiled in Close Proximity to Singapore and Batam

Travelers from Singapore will soon have an exciting new vacation option that doesn’t involve flying. Nirup Island, a luxurious private island located just nine miles south of Singapore, recently opened its doors. This opening is part of a two-phase development, with the first phase including the launch of a restaurant and bar, ferry terminal, marina for 44 yachts, and immigration and customs services.

Currently, access to Nirup Island is only available via private boat, but this will change when the second phase of development is completed in 2024. In conjunction with the opening of the island, a Westin Hotels & Resorts property is also scheduled to open in late 2024. This luxury hotel will feature 94 rooms and 52 villas, providing a stunning accommodation option for guests.

Additionally, during the second phase of the island’s opening, The Riahi Residences will also be unveiled. These residences will include two- and three-bedroom villas, some of which will be beachside or overwater. Fifty villas will be available for sale, and an additional 30 will be managed by the Westin hotel on the island. Westin Hotels & Resorts already has a strong presence in Southeast Asia and will further expand its offerings with this new venture.

Nirup Island is owned by PT. Tritunas Sinar Benua, an Indonesian real estate developer, and is managed by SUTL Enterprise, a marina operator. Arthur Tay, the CEO of SUTL Enterprise, expressed excitement about the opening of the marina, stating that it will alleviate the demand for yachting berths in Singapore. He envisions Nirup Island as a remarkable destination for boaters, travelers, business retreats, and MICE events.

Located in Indonesia’s Riau Islands, Nirup Island is part of a region that has seen the development of private island hotels over the past few decades. Other notable options in the area include Bawah Reserve, Nikoi Private Island, Cempedak, and Telunas Private Island Resort. However, Nirup Island is the closest of these resorts to Singapore, making it an attractive choice for travelers.

Arthur Tay summarized his vision, stating, “My aim has always been to create a collection of exceptional ONE°15 Marina destinations along this region’s coastlines, with each one representing a unique gem.” With the opening of Nirup Island, this vision is coming to life, offering travelers a remarkable and unforgettable vacation experience just a stone’s throw away from Singapore.
