New Zealand’s Progressive Health Care

The future of healthcare, as envisioned by woke activists, is a shocking departure from traditional American values. They advocate for doctors and nurses to engage in racial discrimination against patients, prioritizing black and Hispanic individuals while pushing white and Asian patients to the back of the line. This harmful demand poses a direct threat to patient well-being and is closer to becoming a reality than one might expect.

The situation in New Zealand serves as a glimpse into what could happen in the United States. Surgeons in Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, have been compelled to consider a patient’s race when determining their eligibility for surgery since February. This means that individuals of the right racial background receive expedited treatment, while those of the wrong race may face longer waiting times. Understandably, surgeons in New Zealand are displeased with this unjust practice, recognizing that the sole criterion for treatment should be a patient’s medical need.

The rationale behind this blatant racial discrimination is eerily similar in both New Zealand and the United States. Woke activists argue that historically, Maori, Pacific Islanders, black, and Hispanic individuals have been denied equitable access to healthcare. While it is true that abhorrently discriminatory policies have harmed these communities in the past, it is fundamentally incorrect to believe that the solution to historical discrimination lies in present-day discrimination. Engaging in discriminatory practices in an attempt to rectify past injustices only perpetuates the cycle of discrimination – two wrongs do not make a right. Nevertheless, self-proclaimed “anti-racist” experts like Ibram X. Kendi advocate for such measures, claiming that discrimination is the only remedy to past and present discrimination.

The situation in New Zealand should serve as a cautionary tale for America. The infiltration of discriminatory practices into healthcare has already begun. Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts has proposed providing preferential treatment to “Black and Latinx heart failure patients,” effectively prioritizing patients based on their skin color. Disturbingly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple states and hospital systems factors race into their decisions regarding potentially life-saving treatments. Astonishingly, the medical establishment met this obvious racial discrimination with indifference. It seems that the individuals who govern America’s medical schools, journals, and hospitals predominantly endorse racial discrimination in medical care or are too afraid to speak out against it due to the threat of backlash from woke activists. It is imperative that someone stands up against discrimination, as what begins in prestigious teaching hospitals like Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital will inevitably spread throughout the entire healthcare system.

Activists not only advocate for racial discrimination in healthcare but also for the return of racial segregation, an idea they refer to as “race concordance.” They argue that black patients should only see black doctors, but if white patients were to express a desire to see white doctors, it would be met with outrage. The claim behind this demand is that matching patients and providers by race improves health outcomes. However, the largest study conducted on this topic has shown that segregation does not enhance patient health.

Despite the lack of evidence supporting their claims, woke activists are actively working to lower admission standards at medical schools to increase the number of minority students. Their ultimate goal is to achieve racial parity within the medical profession, making racial segregation easier to implement. It is highly likely that government mandates will follow suit. The situation in New Zealand serves as a warning of what lies ahead for the United States. It begins with racial discrimination and will inevitably descend into racial segregation. The health of all Americans, regardless of their race, hangs in the balance. Sadly, the woke activists show little regard for this, as they systematically push healthcare and society backward into darker times. The only ethical form of healthcare is one that is blind to color. It is crucial that we vehemently oppose and prevent the implementation of the woke endgame. Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, former associate dean of curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine and chairman of Do No Harm, echoes this sentiment.
