New York City Sets August Date for Domestic Violence Trial Involving Jonathan Majors

Actor Jonathan Majors’ upcoming domestic violence trial on August 3 adds a real-life courtroom drama to his stalled Hollywood career.

The accuser alleges that Majors physically assaulted her during a March confrontation in New York City, causing minor injuries. However, Majors’ attorney provided video evidence showing that the female accuser actually attacked him. The attorney also presented photographs of Majors’ injuries and torn clothing as a result of the altercation.

Based on the new evidence, Majors’ attorney is requesting the dismissal of all charges against him and is asking for the accuser to be held accountable for her actions. In the meantime, Majors’ legal team has requested an expedited trial.

Majors’ attorney has also accused the police and prosecutors of racial bias against him, as he is a Black actor. She claims that a white police officer taunted Majors when he attempted to show the officer his injuries caused by the accuser.

Majors, known for his roles in successful films like “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania,” has faced consequences in his career due to the allegations. The U.S. Army pulled TV commercials featuring Majors, and Disney postponed the release of his upcoming Marvel film. Nevertheless, Judge Rachel Pauley wished Majors luck as she scheduled his trial.

If convicted, Majors could face up to a year in jail for the assault charges. This hearing was Majors’ first appearance in court since his arrest in March, and he brought his personal Bible and a poetry journal with him. The judge also emphasized that Majors must comply with a protection order that prohibits contact with the accuser, or else a warrant for his arrest may be issued.
