New Season and Zendaya Collaboration: ‘Euphoria’ Creator Shares Exclusive Insights

Sam Levinson fulfills the desires of “Euphoria” fans.

For the past year and a half, dedicated viewers of the HBO Max drama have patiently awaited any hints about the highly anticipated third season. Finally, showrunner Levinson revealed some details in a recent interview for Elle’s cover story featuring lead actor Zendaya.

In the Season 2 finale of “Euphoria,” audiences last saw Zendaya’s character, Rue, as her loved ones staged a drug intervention. While Rue confirmed she stayed sober for the rest of the school year through a voiceover, Levinson teased that more challenges await her.

Levinson plans to transform the next season into a “film noir” that explores Rue’s journey as an individual with principles in a corrupt world. More details about the upcoming season are yet to be revealed, but Zendaya has previously hinted at what to expect.

In an interview with “Extra” in April 2022, Zendaya expressed her desire to delve into Rue’s sobriety journey and explore the ups and downs she might face. She hopes to depict Rue’s journey towards recovery and show her growth as a character.

Levinson commended Zendaya for her continuous growth as an artist and her competitive spirit. He described her as someone who always seeks new challenges and never settles for complacency.

However, the cast and crew of “Euphoria” have been affected by an ongoing strike, as the Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America unions demand fair residual pay from streaming platforms, guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence, and other protections.

In a tragic turn of events, Angus Cloud, who played the beloved character Fezco, was found dead in his home at the age of 25. The “Euphoria” team honored Cloud’s memory by including a tribute to him in multiple episodes. Co-stars Sydney Sweeney and Alexa Demie also paid their respects, while Zendaya posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

A premiere date for the third season of “Euphoria” has yet to be announced.
