Fitzpatrick’s determination to address this issue was fueled by a personal experience in which he witnessed a shoplifter confidently walk out of a local Target store with a cart full of unpaid items, ignoring his attempt to intervene.
When asked about his expectations for the bill, Fitzpatrick expressed hope that it would receive bipartisan support when the legislative session resumes in January. By providing legal protection for retail workers who act against theft, this proposed legislation aims to strike a balance between preventing losses for businesses and ensuring the well-being of employees.
