New Features of iPhone’s iOS17 Update

Apple made some major announcements at its Worldwide Developers Conference, including the introduction of the Apple Vision Pro headset. Along with this, the company revealed exciting updates and features that will be available on iPhones with the new iOS 17 operating system update. Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, stated that iOS 17 has made the iPhone more personal and intuitive by considering the features that users rely on every day. Here are seven noteworthy updates to look forward to:

1. Audio and video FaceTime messages: With the new software, users will be able to send audio and video messages through FaceTime, even when the recipient is not available for a call. Fun reactions such as hearts, balloons, and fireworks can be added to spice up the conversation.

2. Live Stickers from your own photos: Users can make Live Stickers out of their photos, adding extra effects to create personalized stickers that can be shared through iMessage.

3. Check In feature for safety: The new Check In feature allows users to notify a chosen contact when they have arrived safely at their destination. It also provides valuable safety data like battery percentage and cell service to the trusted contact.

4. Personalized Contact Poster: Users can now customize a Contact Poster that will appear when they call someone. This includes the option to use a selfie, Memoji, or any other photo, along with the ability to customize the font style and color.

5. Live Voicemail transcription: Voicemails will now be transcribed live and displayed on the lock screen, giving users the option to accept a call while the person is still leaving a message. Spam calls will be instantly declined, providing peace of mind against telemarketers.

6. NameDrop for contact sharing: The addition of NameDrop allows users to share contact information by simply bringing their iPhones or Apple Watch close together, similar to a feature seen in the TV series “Black Mirror”.

7. Journal app: The new Journal app focuses on well-being and gratitude, suggesting prompts based on recent photos and encounters with people to encourage journaling.

Additional updates include improvements to AirDrop, autocorrect, collaborative playlists on Apple Music, password sharing, offline map access, mood and emotion tracking in the Health app, streaming to hotel TVs via AirPlay, and enhanced privacy protections when using Safari in private browsing mode. Users will also be able to activate Siri with a simple “Siri” command instead of “Hey Siri.” Overall, Apple’s iOS 17 offers a range of exciting features and updates to enhance user experience.
