New ‘Exorcist’ to Face Competition from Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Movie on Opening Night

Prepare yourselves, because there’s a new movie duo that’s about to take the world by storm, leaving you in awe.

On Friday, October 13th, you’ll have the opportunity to witness Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film in theaters. Coincidentally, this is the same day the next installment of the “Exorcist” horror franchise is releasing, creating the potential for an unforgettable double-feature experience. Let’s call it Exorswift.

Earlier in the summer, there was a similar scenario with “Barbie” from Warner Bros. Discovery and “Oppenheimer” from Universal both premiering on the same day. This resulted in a cultural event, capturing the attention of audiences and generating massive box office sales.

Now, could the combination of a pop star legend like Taylor Swift and the eerie possession theme of “Exorcist” create the same level of excitement and success? Only time will tell.

On Thursday, Swift joyfully shared the news of her concert film’s upcoming release on X, formerly known as Twitter. She expressed that “The Eras Tour” has been the most meaningful and electrifying experience of her life so far.

This concert film captures the incredible journey of the tour, which has garnered millions of fans and was on track to achieve a record-breaking $1 billion in sales earlier this summer.

According to a press release, “The Eras Tour” will be shown in all AMC Theatres across North America, with at least four showtimes per day from Thursday to Sunday.

AMC Theatres revealed that the first leg of “The Eras Tour” attracted over 3 million fans, setting new records for concert ticket sales.

Meanwhile, “The Exorcist: Believer,” produced by Blumhouse, takes place 50 years after the original film. Universal will be distributing this sequel, featuring Leslie Odom Jr. and Ellen Burstyn, known for their remarkable talents in “Hamilton” and the 1973 demonic possession classic, respectively.

It’s worth noting that Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal and CNBC, has a hand in both of these projects. NBCUniversal is responsible for distributing “Oppenheimer” and “The Exorcist: Believer.”
