New Apple iPhone 15: All You Need to Know

Apple is set to unveil the highly anticipated iPhone 15 at its upcoming event on Tuesday, generating a whirlwind of rumors and speculations about the new smartphone line’s features.

While there are varying expectations for Tuesday’s event, there are some details that have gained more certainty.

USB-C Port

One major change expected in the iPhone 15 is the replacement of the lightning port with a USB-C port. The USB-C port, already used in the latest models of iPads and MacBooks, is also widely adopted by other electronics manufacturers for charging purposes.

The shift to USB-C comes after the European Union approved legislation requiring smartphones and most digital devices to be compatible with USB-C chargers starting in 2024. Apple has thus made the necessary changes ahead of time to comply with the new law.

Design

Tech Radar reports that the iPhone 15 might reintroduce the curved edges seen in the iPhone 11 model.

The standard iPhone 15 model is rumored to feature a textured matte glass back, similar to the iPhone 14 Pro, instead of the glossy back used in the standard iPhone 14.

iPhone 15 Pro models are speculated to have titanium sides and thinner bezels, as per Tech Radar.

According to CNET, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus might come in color options such as black, pink, yellow, blue, and green (similar to the iPhone 14). On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max could be available in gray, white, black, and blue (compared to the black, silver, gold, and purple options for the iPhone 14). These predictions are based on the assumption that Apple follows a similar color model as it did for the iPhone 14. Tech Radar’s color predictions differ slightly.

Features

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 camera might use a 48MP main sensor, providing a significant upgrade from the 12MP main sensor found in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models. Tech Radar describes this potential update as a “massive upgrade.”

All versions of the iPhone 15 are expected to retain the Dynamic Island, the screen cutout, from the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. One rumor even suggests that the proximity sensor could be housed within the Dynamic Island itself, rather than positioned below as in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models.
