Neil deGrasse Tyson has built a reputation for debunking scientific inaccuracies in movies, such as “Top Gun” and “Game of Thrones”. Recently, he turned his attention to the “Barbie” movie, leveraging his expertise as an astrophysicist.
After observing the film, deGrasse Tyson used his knowledge of celestial bodies, including the sun and the moon, along with the presence of local plants, to determine the approximate location of Barbie’s fuchsia dream land. His calculations led him to believe that Barbie would be residing in the Florida Keys.
In a Twitter post, deGrasse Tyson shared his findings, stating, “If it’s in the US, Barbie World lands somewhere in the Florida Keys.” He explained that the orientation of the moon in the movie indicates a latitude range of 20-40 degrees north on Earth.
Considering the presence of palm trees in the movie, deGrasse Tyson further narrowed down the latitude range to 20-30 degrees north, which limited the possible locations to a few states.
