National: Third Lawsuit Accuses Backstreet Boys Singer Nick Carter of Rape

Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter is facing a third lawsuit accusing him of raping a 15-year-old girl twenty years ago. The lawsuit was filed by an unnamed woman from Pennsylvania in Clark County, Nevada. The woman, identified as A.R., claims that Carter sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions in 2003 when he was 22-23 years old. The alleged incidents took place on a yacht and a boat in Florida, as well as on a bus. A.R. alleges that Carter instructed her to keep the abuse a secret.

This is the third lawsuit of its kind against Carter, with two other women, Shannon Ruth and Melissa Schuman, also accusing him of rape and sexual assault. Ruth claimed that Carter raped her at the age of 17. In response to the lawsuits, Carter filed a countersuit and denied all claims, accusing the women of taking advantage of the #MeToo movement for financial gain.

Carter’s lawyer, Dale Hayes Jr., stated that A.R. had made the same allegations in the past, but authorities found no grounds to pursue charges against the singer. Hayes argues that the new lawsuit does not make the allegations any more true. Carter is looking forward to the evidence being presented and believes that the truth will come to light.

In the lawsuit, A.R. claims that Carter raped her in a yacht cabin while she was an intoxicated minor. She also alleges that he sexually assaulted her on a bus and allowed three other men to watch him rape her in a cabin on a boat. A.R. claims to have contracted HPV from Carter and is suing for sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Earlier lawsuits from Ruth and Schuman also detailed similar incidents involving Carter, including forced oral sex and contracting HPV. It is important to note that Carter has never faced criminal charges related to these allegations.

In response to Carter’s countersuit, Schuman has filed an anti-SLAPP motion to protect her right to free speech. Ruth also attempted to file an anti-SLAPP motion, but it was denied by a judge. Carter’s counterclaim, which includes evidence from multiple witnesses, has been allowed to proceed.
