The 75th Emmy Awards are the latest production to be postponed due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes, resulting in a delay of its scheduled September airing.
A reliable source, who requested anonymity as an official announcement is pending, confirmed the postponement on Friday.
Information regarding a new date is not currently available.
The Emmy Awards were originally planned to be broadcast on Fox on September 18. However, in accordance with the rules set by the actors’ union, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), stars are not allowed to campaign for the Emmys or attend awards shows while on strike.
Additionally, writers are prohibited from working on awards shows until the strike is resolved.
Whenever the next Emmy Awards take place, HBO is expected to be the leading contender with 74 nominations for its top shows: Succession, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us.
Ted Lasso leads the comedy category nominations with 21, including best comedy series and best actor for Jason Sudeikis.
Approximately 65,000 SAG-AFTRA actors and 11,500 Writers Guild of America screenwriters are currently on strike, demanding better pay, improved structure for residual payments, and protection from the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
