National: Conor McGregor Facing Accusations of Sexual Assault at Miami NBA Finals Game

An investigation is underway regarding an allegation that Conor McGregor, former UFC champion, sexually assaulted a woman in a bathroom at an NBA Finals game. Both the NBA and the Miami Heat are involved in the investigation.

The woman has provided the Miami police with the clothing she was wearing that night, and a report has been filed. However, it is unclear if the police are actively investigating the matter.

McGregor’s lawyer, Barbara Llanes, has stated that McGregor denies any wrongdoing and will not be intimidated.

In letters sent to the NBA, the Heat, and McGregor’s representatives, the woman’s attorney, Ariel Mitchell, detailed her client’s allegations and indicated that she would be open to discussing reasonable settlement offers before June 12th. If no settlement is reached, litigation may proceed.

The Miami Heat released a statement acknowledging the allegations and stated that they are conducting a full investigation. They will not comment further until the investigation is complete.

The NBA is also working with the Heat to gather information and is reserving comment until the investigation is concluded.

It is worth noting that this alleged incident occurred on the same night McGregor had a mishap during a midgame event in which he knocked out the Heat mascot.

Following the incident, the Heat mascot, Burnie, required medical attention and received pain medication. The employee inside the costume is recovering.

McGregor’s presence at the game was part of a promotional campaign for a pain-relief spray. However, he was met with booing from the crowd even before the incident occurred. McGregor struck Burnie with a left hook, causing him to fall, and then punched him again while he was on the floor. McGregor also attempted to “spray” the mascot with the pain-relief product. Members of the Heat’s promotional team intervened and removed Burnie from the court.

It’s been a while since McGregor’s last fight due to a leg injury suffered in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021. His most recent victory came in January 2020.
