National announces the arrival of an upcoming Beatles tune, crafted with the assistance of AI

Thanks to the incredible advancements in artificial intelligence, the Beatles are making a comeback of sorts. Paul McCartney recently revealed in an interview with the BBC that a new Beatles song will be released this year, featuring the voice of John Lennon.

McCartney explained that the song was created using a demo that Lennon had recorded. With the help of AI technology, they were able to enhance and isolate Lennon’s voice, allowing them to mix the record as they normally would.

The demo was given to McCartney by Yoko Ono, Lennon’s widow, and was labelled “For Paul.” It is said to have been recorded shortly before Lennon’s death.

The AI technology used in the creation of this song was also utilized in the making of Peter Jackson’s 2021 docuseries, “The Beatles: Get Back.” Through the use of AI, the production team was able to extract Lennon’s voice and separate it from the background noises.

This same technology has allowed McCartney to virtually “duet” with Lennon at the Glastonbury Festival last year, performing “I’ve Got a Feeling.”

While McCartney did not disclose the title of the new song, it is believed to be a 1978 composition by Lennon called “Now and Then,” which was included on the demo cassette.

Interestingly, the Beatles had previously attempted to record “Now and Then,” but George Harrison refused to work on it due to the poor sound quality. McCartney, however, has expressed his desire to finish the song in the years since.

The use of AI in music has stirred some controversy, as it allows for the replication of voices and song styles. Streaming services have been known to remove music from their platforms that imitates popular artists. McCartney himself described AI as both “scary” and “exciting,” acknowledging the potential it holds for the future of music.

We eagerly anticipate the release of this new Beatles song, showcasing the iconic voice of John Lennon once again. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
