Sam Asghari, the spouse of renowned pop star Britney Spears, has officially filed for divorce after 14 months of marriage, as reported by multiple sources.
Rumors about the couple’s supposedly tumultuous relationship have been circulating online ever since their wedding in June 2022. According to a reliable source, Asghari, who is 29 years old, submitted the divorce papers on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Associated Press.
The initial story was broken by TMZ, and People magazine later reported about the couple’s separation. However, the divorce filing location remains undisclosed in court records from Los Angeles and Ventura counties, as reported by the AP.
Both Spears, 41, and Asghari have refrained from making any public statements about their situation.
Spears first met Asghari, a distinguished model and actor, when he appeared in her music video for “Slumber Party” in 2016.
Asghari has reportedly been a supportive presence in Spears’ life during the tumultuous end of her 13-year-long conservatorship, which garnered significant attention and public scrutiny.
The conservatorship, previously held by Spears’ father Jamie Spears, empowered him to make decisions regarding her medical, financial, and personal matters. The #FreeBritney movement gained momentum as fans demanded an end to the legal arrangement, leading to the termination of the conservatorship.

Since the news of Asghari’s divorce filing emerged, Spears has been active on social media, but she has not addressed anything related to her love life. Instead, she recently shared on Instagram her plans to purchase a horse.
“Buying a horse soon!!! So many options, it’s kinda hard!!!” wrote the pop star in a caption filled with emojis.
Asghari is Spears’ third husband. She notoriously married her childhood friend Jason Alexander, only for the marriage to last a mere 55 hours before filing for divorce in 2004. Later that year, she tied the knot with Kevin Federline, with whom she has two teenage sons. Spears and Federline divorced in 2007. Her conservatorship began the following year in 2008 after several months of erratic behavior in public.
Spears’ highly anticipated memoir, “The Woman in Me,” will be released in October.
