Rapper and actor Nashawn Breedlove, known for his role as Lotto in the hit film “8 Mile” alongside Eminem, has passed away at the age of 46, as confirmed by his mother on social media. His untimely death occurred while he was sleeping in his home in New Jersey. The cause of death remains unknown.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Patricia Breedlove, Nashawn’s mother, paid tribute to her talented son, highlighting his skills as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. She expressed her deep sorrow at his loss and described the impact he had on those around him, emphasizing his character and strength.

Breedlove gained recognition for his portrayal of rapper Lotto in the film “8 Mile,” loosely based on the life of Eminem. The movie features a memorable rap battle scene between his character and Eminem’s character, B-Rabbit.

A family member revealed that Breedlove died in his sleep on Sunday at his home in New Jersey.

Upon learning of Breedlove’s passing, rapper Mickey Factz shared a touching tribute on Instagram, acknowledging Breedlove’s talent and referring to him as one of the few emcees to defeat Eminem’s character in the film. The post included a video clip of Breedlove rapping in “8 Mile.”

Latisha Harper, Breedlove’s ex-girlfriend and mother of their son Zaak, shared her grief in the comments section of Factz’s tribute. She described Breedlove as humble and unaware of his true fans, praising his talents as both a rapper and a singer.

Their son, Zaak, also paid tribute to his father on Instagram, sharing a photo of him from “8 Mile” and referring to him as the legend of hip-hop. Before his breakthrough role, Breedlove went by the stage name OX and contributed to the soundtrack of the film “The Wash,” which featured Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
