Nanny’s Tragic Passing at Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s Dealership

The California car dealership, Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, expresses its full cooperation with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in order to gain insight from the recent incident involving the tragic death of Katharine McPhee and David Foster’s nanny. Megan Maybee, the director of communications for the dealership, extends their deepest condolences to Yadira Calito’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. The loss of such a vibrant life in such tragic circumstances is indeed a heavy burden to bear, and the dealership shares in their grief. The Post has made an attempt to contact the dealership for further comment.

On August 9, Yadira Calito, age 55, lost her life when she was struck by an elderly woman driving a Toyota RAV4 that crashed into Hamer Toyota’s customer reception area. Calito was the caring nanny for McPhee and Foster’s 2-year-old son, Rennie. The driver, an 84-year-old resident of Mission Hills, did not sustain any injuries but caused non-life-threatening injuries to two male Toyota employees, aged 23 and 35, in addition to the fatal injuries sustained by Calito.

According to the LAPD, the elderly driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brakes, which resulted in Calito becoming pinned under the vehicle and being dragged approximately 20 feet. Calito tragically passed away at the hospital. The driver, a resident of Mission Hills, was unharmed but caused injuries to the two Toyota employees. Currently, there have been no reports of the driver being arrested in connection with Calito’s death.

Following the devastating event, McPhee, 39, and Foster, 73, announced that their family had experienced a terrible tragedy, leading the former “American Idol” contestant to leave the couple’s “David Foster and Friends” tour in Asia. McPhee and Foster welcomed their son, Rennie, into the world in February 2021, with Calito serving as his dedicated nanny.

McPhee took to Instagram to inform her fans in Jakarta about her absence from the final two shows of their Asia tour. She expressed her heavy heart and the need for at least one of them to return home to their family due to the devastating circumstances they were facing. McPhee expressed her sincere apologies and expressed her desire to return one day to perform for her beloved fans.

McPhee and Foster tied the knot in 2019 and embraced the joyous arrival of their son earlier this year.
