Nacho expressed his belief that Jude Bellingham was destined to play for Real Madrid, following the midfielder’s sixth goal in six games. Bellingham’s late strike secured a 1-0 victory over Union Berlin in the Champions League Group C opener at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Seizing on a loose ball in the six-yard box in the 94th minute, Bellingham denied the Bundesliga side a point in their competition debut after Federico Valverde’s shot was deflected. The England international has now scored in five out of his six appearances for Real Madrid, with his only goalless game coming in Sunday’s 2-1 league win over Real Sociedad.
“I truly believe Jude was born to play for Real Madrid,” stated club captain Nacho in an interview with Movistar. “We are fortunate to have him here with us and I hope he continues to find the back of the net.”
Bellingham’s game-winning goal against Union Berlin marked the second time he has secured a victory for Madrid with a late goal at the Bernabeu, after his 95th minute winner against Getafe on September 2.
“We remained patient,” Bellingham shared in an interview with Movistar. “We knew we would get opportunities towards the end of the match. We had to maintain our ball movement and find spaces. Our relentless mentality and unity were on full display.”
During the previous season, Bellingham scored 14 goals for Borussia Dortmund, and he has already found the back of the net six times this campaign.
“On the field, I aspire to be an artist, creating opportunities for my teammates, but inside the box, I transform into a goal scorer,” Bellingham stated. “That is what will bring us victory. Hopefully, this trend continues.”
To maximize Bellingham’s goal-scoring prowess, coach Carlo Ancelotti has deployed him in an advanced No. 10 role.
