Musk announces that Twitter’s latest rebranding will exclude its iconic bird logo

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, made an announcement on Sunday that his social media platform will retire its iconic bird logo as part of an extensive brand overhaul.

In a series of tweets, Musk asked users whether the default color of the Twitter brand should change from blue to black or white. He also stated, “Soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

Instead of the bird icon, Musk proposed using an “X” symbol, which he has already incorporated into his Tesla and SpaceX brands. He suggested placing the “Art Deco” style logo against a black background, providing a glimpse of the image in a picture and short video he shared.

Musk tweeted, “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make it go live worldwide tomorrow.” He later added, “Not sure what subtle clues gave it away, but I like the letter X.”

This announcement by Musk is his latest effort to revolutionize the way Twitter is used and perceived. Since acquiring the company for $44 billion, his controversial decisions and policy changes have led to a decline in advertising revenue and user numbers. In response, Meta launched Threads, a competing platform that gained over 100 million users within a week.

Musk has consistently dismissed Threads as a threat, arguing that his decision to allow more open conversations and freedom of expression on Twitter has made it a platform for genuine discussion. He tweeted, “Frankly, I love the negative feedback on this platform. It’s much better than some censorious authority!”
