Musk Announces Addition of Audio and Video Calls in X

Elon Musk made an exciting announcement on Thursday regarding his X social media platform. He revealed that video and audio calls will soon be available to users. This new feature will be compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, and PC platforms. The best part is that no phone number will be required to make these calls, establishing X as a global address book.

This announcement follows the recent news that X will start collecting biometric data, as well as employment and education history, from its users starting September 29th. Additionally, political advertisements will now be allowed on the platform, marking a significant change since 2019.

Musk acquired the platform in October 2022 with ambitious plans to turn it into his “everything app.” X CEO Linda Yaccarino has also expressed interest in expanding the platform’s services to include audio, video, messaging, and payments/banking.

In a recent thread on X, Yaccarino spoke about the impact of Twitter and how X aims to go even further in transforming the global town square.
