Murder-Suicide Involving Jimmie Johnson’s In-Laws Results in Tragic Deaths

NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson has made the decision to withdraw from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series race in Chicago due to a tragic incident that has occurred within his family. Johnson’s in-laws and their grandson were involved in an apparent murder-suicide at their home in Oklahoma on Monday night, according to the police. The victims have been identified as Terry and Jack Janway, the parents of Johnson’s wife Chandra Janway, along with 11-year-old Dalton Janway, as reported by People. Law enforcement authorities believe Terry Janway, 68, was responsible for the deaths of her 69-year-old husband and grandson before taking her own life.

Muskogee police officer Lynn Hamlin told People that a 911 call was made on Monday night from Terry Janway, indicating a disturbance and the presence of a gun before the call abruptly ended. When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered Jack Janway’s body in the hallway of the house, as reported by the Muskogee Phoenix. Shortly after hearing a gunshot from inside the home, they found the bodies of Terry and Dalton Janway. The motive behind the incident remains unknown, as stated by TMZ.

Muskogee Mayor Marlon Coleman expressed his shock and sadness over the incident, revealing that he had a longstanding relationship with the Janway family and had been a patient at Jack Janway’s chiropody practice. According to Fox23, the mayor said, “It was traumatizing to find out that a long-standing family who had made so many contributions to our community were involved in this type of incident. It was even more bone-chilling to find out there was a child involved.” Johnson’s race team, Legacy Motor Club, has announced the withdrawal of his car from the upcoming race and has requested privacy for the Johnson family during this difficult time, as reported by the Associated Press.
