Mother reports 14-year-old son involved in Virginia shooting, police confirm

Virginia police said the search for a teenager accused of shooting a man was resolved when he voluntarily walked into a police station accompanied by his mother. The incident, which occurred in Hybla Valley, resulted in a 19-year-old man being shot in the lower body and arm by a 14-year-old boy.

Despite a search by police officers using K-9 units and a helicopter, the teenager eluded capture. Following the shooting, the victim was hospitalized and is expected to recover from his injuries. Although the relationship between the victim and the assailant was not disclosed, authorities have stated that the attack was likely not random.

After unsuccessful attempts to locate the teenager at his home, the situation took a surprising turn when the teen’s mother delivered him to the Mount Vernon Police station. The 14-year-old was subsequently charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and was taken into juvenile detention. However, the firearm used in the incident has still not been recovered.

The incident took place in Hybla Valley, approximately 13 miles south of Washington, D.C. This news joins a string of incidents involving violence, such as a dispute outside a Texas church resulting in a fatal shooting and a confrontation at a Florida Publix that ended in a deadly stabbing.
