Moreno Valley Brush Fire Experiences Escalation in Fire Lines

Throughout the night, heroic firefighters diligently worked to clear more vegetation surrounding a brush fire in a canyon located in the northern region of Moreno Valley. This relentless fire has already destroyed at least one home and devoured a whopping 437 acres of land.

As of 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, the Reche Fire was 50% contained, thanks to the tireless efforts of our brave firefighters.

The Riverside County Fire Department first received reports of the fire around 1 p.m. on Friday. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Reche Canyon Road and High Country Drive.

Various engine and hand crews from the Riverside County Fire Department, Idyllwild Fire Protection District, Cal Fire-San Bernardino County, and other reputable agencies promptly responded to the emergency. Upon arriving, they were faced with rapid-moving flames engulfing medium brush.

The initial point of ignition for the fire is situated in a sparsely populated area, consisting of both single-family dwellings and mobile homes. Nonetheless, the fire had the potential to spread towards a larger community situated along the borders of the Badlands.

A mandatory evacuation order was quickly issued for residences located south of Reche Canyon, north of Alta Vista Drive, west of Locust Avenue, and east of Reche Vista Drive.

We are pleased to inform you that all road closures and evacuation warnings have now been lifted as per the fire officials.

During the peak of the blaze, a total of six Cal Fire air tankers and six water-dropping helicopters were deployed to combat the fire. Their strategic efforts successfully slowed down the advancement of the fire, allowing the firefighters on the ground to close in on gaps and further contain the fire.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.
