A former model who had aspirations of becoming a professional footballer has been sentenced to 28 months in jail for drug dealing. Marcus Adigun, 29, turned to the illegal trade when his opportunities in the fashion industry dried up during the Covid-19 pandemic, as revealed during the hearing at Leeds Crown Court.
On May 5, 2021, Adigun was found acting suspiciously next to a car. Subsequent searches uncovered packages of cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis, along with a significant amount of cash. Further investigation at his residence yielded more drugs, scales, mobile phones, and additional cash.

Adigun pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine, ketamine and cannabis and offering to supply a psychoactive substance.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Adigun had been pursuing a career in professional football but was forced to abandon it due to an injury. He then turned to boxing and achieved success as a university champion. Adigun was also on the path to becoming a personal trainer and had already secured modeling and acting jobs.
Unfortunately, the pandemic resulted in a loss of work opportunities, pushing Adigun into financial difficulties. In a desperate attempt to make money, he made the regrettable decision to enter the drug trade. Adigun has accepted his wrongdoing and expressed remorse for his actions.
