  • Miss Utah Noelia Voigt emerged as the victorious Miss USA in Reno, Nevada, on Friday night.
  • She will now represent the United States in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant on November 18.
  • Voigt revealed during the pageant that she had been preparing for Miss USA for a remarkable seven years.

The newly crowned Miss USA is Noelia Voigt from Utah.

Morgan Romano, Miss USA 2022, officially bestowed the crown upon Voigt during the grand event held at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada, on Friday night. Savannah Gankiewicz, Miss Hawaii, secured the first runner-up position.

Voigt will now represent the United States at the upcoming Miss Universe pageant scheduled for November 18, 2023, in El Salvador. R’Bonney Gabriel, the reigning Miss Universe, became the first American to win the pageant in 10 years.

When asked about her role as a brand ambassador for the Miss USA organization, Voigt emphasized the crucial asset of connecting with people. She stated, “The United States of America is an incredibly diverse country, probably one of the most diverse in the entire world, so being able to connect with everybody is important. As a bilingual Venezuelan-American woman, I plan to connect with that community of people because the United States of America is a diverse country, and Miss USA needs to be able to represent every community, no matter their background, their race, their ethnicity.”

In a video shown during her final walk, Voigt expressed her preparation of seven years for the Miss USA crown and her belief that Miss USA should stand as a symbol of unity.

The 23-year-old Voigt is currently pursuing a degree in interior design. She passionately advocates for survivors of dating violence and the rights of immigrants, being the daughter of a Venezuelan immigrant herself. Additionally, Voigt has authored a children’s book and enjoys dance, car camping, and spending time with her dog during her leisure.

Miss USA 2023 took place amidst a year of controversy surrounding the esteemed pageant. The controversy began after Gabriel claimed the Miss USA 2022 title in October, with contestants alleging rigging. As a consequence, Crystle Stewart, the then-president of Miss USA, faced suspension from the Miss Universe Organization.

Following Gabriel’s triumph in Miss Universe in January, Romano, who was the first runner-up, assumed the title of Miss USA 2022. In August, the Miss Universe Organization declared the rigging allegations false and terminated Stewart’s tenure as Miss USA president. Laylah Rose was appointed as her successor shortly afterward.

Rose ushered in significant changes for Miss USA, including a revamped scoring system. In an interview with Insider, Rose disclosed that the interview segment accounted for 50% of the contestants’ overall score, while the swimsuit and evening-gown rounds carried 25% weightage each.
