A shocking incident occurred in Texas when a man allegedly slashed a woman’s throat, wrapped her in plastic, and dumped her in a pasture. The most unsettling part? The man was reportedly wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the heinous crime.
31-year-old Roger Gonzalez of San Antonio was apprehended on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 2, by San Antonio police and Atascosa County sheriff’s deputies, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Aside from cutting the woman’s throat, investigators claim that Gonzalez also stabbed and beat her before leaving her for dead in a pasture near the city of Poteet, approximately 30 miles south of San Antonio. Miraculously, the woman survived, despite sustaining serious injuries, and was discovered by the side of a road at around 4 p.m. the day before Gonzalez’s arrest.
An investigation was launched, leading to Gonzalez’s arrest on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Shockingly, authorities revealed that he was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the assault. He was then booked into the Atascosa County Jail, with bond set at $40,000.
The woman is currently hospitalized in San Antonio in “serious but stable condition,” according to officials. This chilling incident is just one example of the disturbing occurrences happening in Texas and the rest of the nation.
