Mike Tindall Playfully Reflects on Meeting the Late Queen in His Teenage Years at His Alma Mater

Mike Tindall has shared an interesting anecdote about his first encounter with Queen Elizabeth II. In the latest episode of The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, the former rugby player revealed that he met the Queen when he was just 13 years old during her visit to his old school, Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Yorkshire.

During the visit, Mike had the opportunity to meet Queen Elizabeth II, which he remembers vividly. The school holds a special place in his heart, as it was founded by Royal Charter of Queen Elizabeth I in 1591. Mike even gave viewers a tour of the school in the episode.

During the episode, Mike also jokingly mentioned his wife Zara. He shared a photograph of Queen Elizabeth’s visit to the school in 1991, although he wasn’t in the picture himself. Mike humorously recounted the possibility of meeting his future wife in biology class during the event.

Mike and Zara’s love story started during the Rugby World Cup in 2003, and they eventually tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in Scotland in 2011. Recently, Mike appeared on Good Morning Britain and humorously talked about his experiences with beer goggles.

Mike is known for his playful personality and his relationship with Zara’s grandmother, the late Queen. He previously paid tribute to the Queen on his podcast. Reflecting on her passing, Mike expressed mixed emotions and regrets about not asking her more questions during their interactions.

In addition to their shared love for rugby, Mike and Zara are known for their fun and party-loving nature. Their relationship has always been playful, starting from their ‘boozy’ first date. They even partied until the early hours on the night before the King’s coronation earlier this year.
