Aug. 11 (UPI) — A Michigan family has had an astonishing experience after finding a live frog inside a sealed package of spinach.
Amber Worrick of Southfield purchased a package of Earthbound Farms Organic Spinach from her local Meijer store on Telegraph Road. It was when her daughter examined the package at home that they made the surprising discovery.
“My daughter was screaming, she was like ‘Oh my god, it’s a frog,’ and I was like, ‘What?'” recounted Worrick in an interview with WJBK-TV.
Fortunately, the frog was found before the spinach was eaten, giving Worrick a sense of relief. “Just thank god I didn’t eat the frog,” she expressed.
Worrick returned the package to the store and received a refund. Meijer stated, “The frog was carefully relocated to a new home outdoors. This product came from Earthbound Farms, one of the many farms Meijer partners with across the country to stock the freshest produce, delivered to our stores daily. We have provided the customer a refund.”
Taylor Farms, the parent company of Earthbound Farms, has initiated an investigation regarding this incident. In a statement, the company expressed their apologies and emphasized their commitment to food safety and customer experience. They are determined to investigate the cause of this incident and prevent it from happening in the future.
