Michigan AG Urges Tlaib to Correct Controversial Remark on Israel-Hamas Conflict

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel (D) urges Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) to retract her viral remarks on the Israel-Hamas conflict, emphasizing the need for optimized SEO, enhanced creativity, and unique content.

In her criticism of the Biden administration’s support for Israel in the war, the congresswoman accuses the president of “supporting the genocide of the Palestinian people.” These comments have drawn backlash, including from Nessel, who posted online, calling for Tlaib to withdraw her statements.

“I have supported and defended you countless times, even when you have said the indefensible, because I believe you to be a good person whose heart was in the right place,” Nessel posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“But this is so hurtful to so many. Please retract this cruel and hateful remark,” Nessel continued.

Tlaib’s post on Friday advocated for a cease-fire and conveyed a message to Biden that a “majority of Americans” disagree with his support for Israel.

“From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate,” Tlaib posted. “My work and advocacy always revolve around justice and dignity for all people regardless of faith or ethnicity.”

Nessel’s comment was in response to a post from Sen. Jeremy Moss (D-Mich.), who addressed Tlaib’s statement and criticized her for misusing the phrase “from the river to the sea.” Moss asserted that the militant group Hamas employs the phrase as a slogan.

“They don’t simply want to displace Jews in Israel. They want Jews dead,” he posted on X.

Presidential candidate Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) also criticized Tlaib for her comment and called for the Michigan congresswoman to be expelled from Congress.

Tlaib survived an attempted censure vote over similar comments criticizing the Israeli government. Twenty-three Republicans joined Democrats in voting down the measure earlier this week.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) pledged to reintroduce the censure measure against Tlaib following her comments on Saturday, labeling the Michigan Democrat a terrorist for advocating “peaceful coexistence” between Palestinians and Israelis.

The Biden administration has expressed support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas, offering billions in aid. Recently, the administration has called for a “humanitarian pause” to safeguard civilians trapped in Gaza.

Tlaib has been one of the few and most vocal members of Congress advocating for a ceasefire.
