Introduced as a concept in 2021 and later transformed into a production model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Cyberster is the latest offering from MG. Just a month ago, during the Chengdu Motor Show in China, our friends and colleagues at Wheelboy had the opportunity to test drive the Cyberster and share their exclusive impressions and a gallery of real-life photos.

The Cyberster marks MG’s return to the sports car segment after nearly three decades. However, this new model bears little resemblance to its charming and nimble predecessors. As an electric vehicle, the Cyberster is heavier and more complex, but it also boasts unprecedented speed. In the words of the test driver, it is “frighteningly quick.”
Now, let’s delve into the powertrain of this roadster. The Cyberster boasts a pair of electric motors generating a combined output of 536 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque. With this power, it can sprint from 0 to 62 miles per hour in a mere 3.2 seconds. Additionally, there’s a rear-wheel-drive version with a single motor that offers less power but still surpasses the performance of previous MG roadsters and sports cars. However, speed alone isn’t the only factor that contributes to a sports car’s greatness in the EV era.
