MEXICO CITY (Reuters) — Mexican lawmakers were captivated by testimony revealing that we are not alone in the universe, as well as the alleged remains of non-human beings. This extraordinary hearing marked Mexico’s first congressional event on UFOs.
During the hearing on Tuesday, focused on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), also known as UFOs, politicians were presented with two artifacts that journalist and UFO enthusiast Jaime Maussan claimed were the corpses of extraterrestrials.
According to Maussan, the specimens were not related to any form of life on Earth.
The two tiny “bodies,” displayed in cases, had three fingers on each hand and elongated heads. Maussan stated that they were recovered in Peru near the ancient Nazca Lines in 2017. He added that they were approximately 1,000 years old, as determined by carbon dating conducted by Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM).
Previous similar finds have turned out to be the remains of mummified children.
Maussan emphasized that this was the first time such evidence had been presented.
“I believe there is compelling evidence that we are dealing with non-human specimens that do not belong to any known species in our world, and that all scientific institutions have the opportunity to investigate this,” Maussan stated.
Jose de Jesus Zalce Benitez, Director of the Scientific Institute for Health of the Mexican navy, revealed that X-rays, 3-D reconstruction, and DNA analysis had been conducted on the remains.
“I can confirm that these bodies have no connection to human beings,” he affirmed.
UNAM republished a statement from 2017, stating that their National Laboratory of Mass Spectrometry with Accelerators (LEMA) only intended to determine the age of the samples and did not draw conclusions about their origin.
Former U.S. Navy pilot Ryan Graves, who has participated in U.S. Congressional hearings about his personal experience with UAP and the stigma around reporting such sightings, also shared his testimony.
Congressman Sergio Gutierrez, from President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s ruling Morena party, expressed hope that this hearing would be followed by similar events in Mexico.
“We are left with reflections, with concerns, and with a path to continue discussing this,” Gutierrez remarked.
In recent years, the U.S. government’s approach to public information on UAP has shifted after decades of evasiveness. The Pentagon has actively investigated reported sightings by military aviators, and NASA has launched its own panel to study UFOs.
NASA is scheduled to discuss findings from the study on Thursday.
Maussan faced criticism from skeptics who questioned the authenticity of his presentation, which could potentially hinder efforts to take the issue seriously. Some individuals expressed the view that waiting for a scientific paper for publication would have been more appropriate.
