Meta’s latest Threads app is a ‘battery-saver’ for smartphones

Users of Meta’s innovative app, Threads, are voicing their concerns about its battery-draining effects. Within just a week of its launch, the app has garnered over 100 million users. One user took to Twitter to complain, “Is Threads just…murderous to anyone else’s battery?” Another user, Andrew Brown, expressed his reluctance to use Instagram Threads until the battery issue is resolved. Several Twitter users even shared screenshots of their Threads accounts, highlighting the low battery life. The drain on battery seems to be a common problem experienced by many users.

One user went as far as analyzing the battery usage on their device, revealing that Threads was the most energy-consuming app, utilizing 53% of the phone’s power, while Twitter only accounted for 12%. It’s worth noting that the Post has reached out for comments from Meta Platforms Inc. Regarding popularity, Threads has received an overwhelming response, with users generating over 95 million posts and 190 million likes since its launch.

While Threads’ success continues to skyrocket, its prominent competitor, Twitter, has witnessed an 11% decline in traffic compared to the previous year, as reported by a web analytics firm. This surge in Threads’ popularity has fueled a war of words between Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta. The Twitter boss specifically referred to Zuckerberg as a “cuck” and challenged him to a “d–k measuring contest.”

On the other hand, Zuckerberg describes Threads as a “friendlier” version of Twitter, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a friendly atmosphere as the app expands. He believes that this approach will ultimately lead to success, highlighting that Twitter’s failure to do so was one reason why it didn’t reach its full potential. With over 100 million users in less than a week, Threads has gained significant momentum, leaving Twitter behind in terms of traffic.

Musk, however, dismisses Zuckerberg’s claims and states that it’s more enjoyable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter than to partake in the superficial happiness of Instagram. He adds that Threads will provide users with humor but warns against the possibility of encountering negative content.
