Two individuals suspected of burglarizing and vandalizing multiple vehicles in Rancho Mirage are now facing felony charges. The stolen property and damages exceed $25,000, according to court records.

Court records indicate that Osman Uriel Arellano, a 27-year-old Coachella resident, and Manuel Victor Guerra, a 36-year-old Indio resident, have been charged with four felony counts of receiving stolen property, two felony counts of burglary, one felony count each of vandalism, and being a convicted felon and narcotic addict in possession of a firearm. They also face two misdemeanor counts of tampering with a vehicle.

Arellano has been additionally charged with one felony count of evading arrest and carrying a concealed weapon, while Guerra faces an additional felony count of receiving stolen property. Arellano’s arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, but Guerra’s arraignment date has not yet been determined.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team conducted an investigation into the vehicle burglaries and vandalisms that occurred throughout August. Sgt. Jeff Cryder stated that Guerra and Arellano were identified as the suspects in various incidents.

On Thursday, Guerra and Arellano were located at a residence near Bermuda Dunes by members of the Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, and Palm Desert SET, along with the Burglary Suppression Unit. A search of the residence allegedly uncovered numerous stolen items and a firearm.

Cryder stated, “Palm Desert Station personnel arrested Guerra at the location. Arellano was arrested shortly after following a vehicle pursuit that ended in the city of Indio.”

Arellano has been booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio, while Guerra has been booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. Both individuals are currently being held on $250,000 bail.

Anyone with information regarding the burglaries and vandalisms is urged to contact Deputy Paull at the Palm Desert sheriff’s station by dialing 760-578-4275.
